Steve Morrison is Professor in the Department of Economics at Northeastern University. He is also the Editor in Chief of the Journal of Transport Economics and Policy. From 1998-2012 he was Chair of Northeastern’s Economics Department. In addition, has also held visiting positions at Harvard, MIT, the London School of Economics, and the Brookings Institution. Morrison is the author of numerous articles on transportation economics and air transportation and he is co-author (with Clifford Winston) of The Economic Effects of Airline Deregulation (1986) and The Evolution of the Airline Industry (1995), both published by the Brookings Institution. He has written many op-ed pieces for newspapers and has testified before Congress on airline competition matters on numerous occasions. He has received the Transportation and Public Utilities Group of the American Economic Association (TPUG) "Distinguished Member" award (2003), which is given to members "who have made significant contributions to the field and to the Transportation and Public Utilities Group during their careers" and the Transportation Research Forum’s "Distinguished Transportation Researcher" award (2008). Morrison received a B.A. in Economics from the University of Florida and a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of California, Berkeley.
